FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do our dogs come from?

Most of the pups in our care come from the Navajo and Ute Indian Reservations in Arizona, Utah and New Mexico. We specialize in orphaned puppies that come to us generally at very young ages and require bottle feeding and around the clock care. There is a large overpopulation of stray and unwanted dogs in the four corners areas and as a result puppies are often abandoned or thrown out. The lucky ones are found and find their way to us. All of the dogs in our care are raised in foster homes and are well socialized and receive lots of individual attention.

Where are you located?

We are a nonprofit volunteer rescue based in the desert of Moab UT.  All of our pups are fostered and raised in foster homes.

What are your adoption Fees?

  • Puppy : $265
  • Adult Dog : $150

What breed are your puppies?

We do not DNA test pups prior to adoption, the breed listed is based off the records we have prior to the pups coming to our rescue, and physical characteristics the pup has. We make no guarantees regarding the breed of the pup. Often as they grow they look very different and their appearance changes a lot. Be open to your pup being of a very mixed genetic background.

Can I meet a puppy before I fill out an application?

No.  You must fill out an adoption application before setting up a meet and greet.

What is included with adoption?

Spay/Neuter. Each litter will be evaluated and at the discretion of Bottle Pups and Mama Dog Rescue, Pups will either be spayed/neutered prior to adoption, or a $100 refundable deposit is taken at time of adoption and refunded if the spay/neuter surgery is completed before the puppy is 7 months old. Cost of the surgery is completely covered if you use one of our veterinary clinics, or Bottle Pups and Mama Dog Rescue will apply a $110 credit to the clinic of your choice.

Age appropriate vaccinations. Most of our puppies go to their new homes at about 9 weeks old and will have had their first two vaccinations and a Bordetella vaccination. Adopters will need to follow up with their veterinarian to complete the vaccination series.

Microchipping. We use SmartTag microchips. Each chip will be registered to adopters by us at time of adoption and includes free lifetime registration.

A comfort blanket that pups have been sleeping with. Having something with a familiar smell helps a puppy feel safe as they transition to their new home.

A small bag of puppy food the pups have been eating to help adopters transition to the food of their choice. Transitioning your pup to its new food gradually over 5-7 days will help avoid diarrhea and upset stomachs.

Collar. Each of our pups will go home with a simple collar. We start our pups wearing collars when they are very young and they are used to the feel of having one on.

Health packet. Each pup will have a packet with all vaccinations and health care they have received while with us. Adopters should take this to their pups first veterinarian visit. We also include basic puppy care info, a copy of the signed Adoption Contract, microchip information and information about Parvo and how to keep your pup safe.

Free food and a personalized ID tag. Our local pet store, MOAB BARKERY, will give each adopter a free custom ID tag for your new pup and other free goodies. Plan on leaving a little extra time on the day of adoption to visit this great store!
